I thought I’d write a short post about the above subject as I have noticed that there seems to be some confusion as to what that really means! Does it mean you have to look perfect i.e. the “bees knees” in the posture? Absolutely not! In Barefoot Bodeez classes, perfect alignment means the perfect alignment for YOU to make you the most comfortable in the posture therefore realising the most benefits available for you in that moment! Depending on your body shape or body type, as a simple example, it may be necessary to turn a foot slightly, bend a knee or place the legs wider or narrower. One posture may look different for each body in the class and that is OK! You may feel “muscle samadhi” as my teacher in India laughingly calls it, meaning the muscles will be working but your joints are kept safe.
So yes – I believe perfect alignment is possible for every “body”. When you have the correct alignment for you, muscles are working properly, the energy is flowing, you can breathe easily and then the mind can become more peaceful. That is the key to more lasting change in the body anyway. Seeing that in class gives me a real buzz…
